The Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK) is a World Bank Centre of Excellence at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi to conduct applied research, educational programs, and professional development and training courses in transport in Africa. The position of Research and Training Coordinator is based in KNUST campus in Kumasi but TRECK activities will span across the academic and sectoral partners in sub-Saharan Africa. The roles and responsibilities of the Research Associate/Fellow are as follows:
- You will work under the direction of the TRECK Centre Director to contribute to the Centre research activities. Your specification duties and responsibilities are to;
- conduct literature search and reviews on assigned research themes;
- collect and analyse data;
- help in preparing materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations;
- support in preparing manuscripts for submission to scholarly and practitioner journals;
- help in preparing newsletters on Centre research activities;
- prepare interview questions;
- recruit and/or interview subjects/informants/respondents;
- maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary;
- summarize and code interviews;
- provide ready access to all experimental, archival and survey data for the Centre researchers;
- manage and respond to project related emails and letters;
- prepare, maintain, and update website materials;
- attend project meetings, area seminars and other meetings as necessary;
- summarize project results, prepare progress reports for the Centre Director and Senior Technical Advisors; and
- prepare other articles, reports, and presentations as and when necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned you by the Centre Director.
- Additional roles will be assigned to you as and when necessary.
Tenure: Renewable annually subject to performance
Qualifications:
To be successful on this role, you are required to possess relevant academic qualifications and experiences as specified below.
- Education
You must have graduated from a good Master-degree programme in Road and Transport Engineering from a reputable university or institution of higher learning. Membership of relevant professional association (e.g., Ghana Institution of Engineering) and possession of a professional qualification in would be an added advantage.
- Experience
- Prior three year working experience in managing transportation research activities and interaction with top executives in the transportation sectors is required to be successful on this position.
- Prior experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods is preferred (but not required), including interaction with top executives, thematic coding of qualitative data, survey design, administration, and quantitative analysis.
