The project provided the grant to establish the Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) Regional Transport Research and Education Centre, Kumasi (TRECK). The Centre conducts applied research in collaboration with national, regional and international academic and industry partners, offers scholarships and training for Masters and doctorate educational programmes and short courses.

The funding has helped the Centre to invest more into educational infrastructure and equipment, Establish partnerships and leverage the funding to establish consultancies, contract research and academic exchange programmes. The Centre hope to expand its MSc and PhD programmes in the are of Transport and Integrated Logistics, Transport Planning and Engineering, Intelligent transport systems and Transport Infrastructure finance.
