Student Spotlight: Kwaku Agyemang Frimpong

Kwaku Agyemang Frimpong is pursuing an MSc. in Transport Systems at KNUST’s Regional Transport Research and Education Centre in Kumasi (TRECK). Currently, Kwaku is interning at the World Bank’s Sierra Leone country office, having been selected for the World Bank Infrastructure Internship Program for African Universities.

He collaborates with Specialists on various developmental projects in the Africa West Region. This includes the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP), Integrated Resilient Urban Mobility Project (IRUMP), Connectivity and Agricultural Market Infrastructure Project (CaMIP), and Smallholder Commercialization and Agribusiness Development Project (SCaDEP). His responsibilities include conducting weekly site visits with Project Engineers on ongoing roads and bridge construction projects, gathering data and providing detailed reports to the team.

Driven by a passion for sustainable urban mobility, he spearheads research at ‘Trofare,’ a team of young, talented individuals dedicated to exploring innovative approaches to public transportation. Recently, the team launched a mobile application aimed at revolutionizing paratransit through real-time information sharing
