Transportation Experts and staff of TRECK assess the Transport sector of the Republic of Sierra Leone

Transportation Experts and staff of the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK), have just completed a one week mission to assess the Transport sector of the Republic of Sierra Leone. This included the state of practice, facilities, capacity gaps, standards and specifications, education and training programs, regulation of Engineering practitioners and continuing professional development.

This initiative was undertaken as part of the Integrated Resilient Urban Mobility Project (IRUMP) being implemented by the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, Republic of Sierra Leone. The experts interacted with both public and private sector agencies including Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA), Ministry of Transport and Aviation (MTA), Freetown City Council( FCC), Sierra Leone Institute of Engineers (SLIE), Fourah Bay College (FBC) and Edward Davies Consulting.

They also assessed curricula, laboratory facilities and spoke to both current and past students of FBC. A virtual debriefing session was made on April 15, 2021 with all the stakeholders with Fatima Arroyo - World Bank mission in Dakar and Mrs Himdat Basuyuf of ACE Impact Project in attendance.

Among the delegation were Prof Charles Adams, TRECK Centre Director, Prof Yaw Adubofour Tuffour, Deputy Centre , Amos Ato Eghan, Finance Manager, Ing Kwame Kwakwa Osei and Akwasi Agyepong all of TRECK
