TRECK Staff Participate in ACE Training Workshop on Adaptive and Residual Risk Management

Three staff members from the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi participated in the ACE Training Workshop held at the Royal Cossy Hills Hotel, Jirapa, Ghana. The team comprised Prof. Helen Essandoh, Centre Director; Prof. Samuel A. Andam-Akorful, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer; and Collins A. Nketiah, Research Assistant.

The six-day workshop, held from October 7–12, 2024 was themed; “Adaptive and Residual Risk Management: Embracing Uncertainty & Change and Implementing Adaptive Strategies to Mitigate Risk and Capitalize on Opportunities in a Dynamic Environment.”  The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills and tools for identifying, analyzing, and managing potential uncertainties and risks associated with the critical transition phase of the ACE project.

Participants engaged in a series of interactive sessions, case studies, and group activities that emphasized adaptive planning, proactive risk management, and leveraging opportunities in dynamic and uncertain environments.

Beyond the intensive training sessions, the workshop incorporated a range of extra-curricular activities designed to promote relaxation, networking, and well-being. Attendees enjoyed daily fitness activities, including yoga and morning aerobics, fostering a balanced approach to both mental and physical health.

The program concluded with a visit to the Jirapa Dubai Safari, where participants explored the region’s rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes. They also visited notable tourist attractions within the Jirapa enclave, gaining insight into the area's unique culture and heritage.

These activities offered attendees a chance to unwind, strengthen bonds, and reflect on the workshop’s lessons in an inspiring and serene setting.
