The Regional Transport Research and Education Centre Kumasi (TRECK) celebrated a landmark achievement with the commissioning of its new building on November 30, 2024.
The event, held during the 58th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was honored by the distinguished presence of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Chancellor of KNUST and Asantehene.
The event brought together an esteemed audience, including His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Vice Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, members of the University Council, government representatives, industry stakeholders, and the broader TRECK community.
As part of the ceremony, Prof. Helen M. K. Essandoh, the Director of KEEP, led dignitaries on an exclusive tour of the state-of-the-art facility. The infrastructure showcases its potential to support TRECK’s mission of advancing education, research, and innovation in transport and logistics across Africa.
In his keynote address, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II applauded the Vice Chancellor, University Management, architects, and construction teams for their exceptional work and collaboration in bringing this vision to reality. He emphasized the importance of TRECK’s contributions to academia and the transport sector, reaffirming its pivotal role in shaping the future of transportation and logistics in Africa.
Attendees commended TRECK for establishing an environment that fosters impactful learning, groundbreaking research, and dynamic collaboration.
